These terms cover the freight class and density calculators, the NMFC reference table, and the guides published on ClassYourFreight.
ClassYourFreight publishes two browser-based calculators, a density-to-class reference table with a downloadable CSV, and a set of guides on freight classification and LTL pricing. Everything here is free to use and none of it requires an account.
Both calculators apply the standard NMFC density-to-class breakpoints to the weight and dimensions you enter. That covers the density factor of classification, not the other factors, stowability, handling and liability, that the NMFC and individual carriers also weigh, and it can't see a fixed NMFC item number that might apply to your commodity instead. Treat the output as a strong starting point for a quote, not a binding classification.
You're welcome to reference or link to the guides and the reference table. Please don't scrape the full class table or republish entire articles without asking; a note through the contact page is enough to sort out reuse.
The calculators, the reference data and the guides are provided as-is. We work to keep the NMFC figures current, but we don't guarantee the output will match what a specific carrier charges or classifies on a given shipment.
We aren't liable for shipping costs, reclassification fees, or other losses arising from relying on this site's estimates instead of a carrier-confirmed class.
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links; if you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. That arrangement doesn't change the calculators' math or which links get included.
We may revise this page as the tools or the site change. Continued use of the calculators after an update means you accept the current version.
